Cold Enamelling - ResinsCold enamelling is the contemporary or popular term used to describe the process of applying resins to decorate items. Cold enameling is an inexpensive way to add colour to jewellery projects and beautiful results can be achieved. It is easy to create transparent colour or stained glass effects - simply apply one colour on top of the other and using a toothpick, drag the colour through. In many instances it is difficult to tell the difference between resins administered with a skilled hand and traditional enamelling. Unlike traditional vitreous enamels, no firing is required for resin to cure, hence the term cold cure or cold enamel. Resins can be applied to virtually any material - from gold, silver, bronze and brass, to pewter, alloys, plated & painted non-precious metals and even some plastics. The finish obtained is hard and heat resistant and is not affected by acids, oils, bleach or water. Another great thing with cold enamel is that if you get a scratch on your resin, you do not need to sand or buff it out. Just mix more resin, apply and you have a lovely new smooth surface. All you need to succeed with Cold Enamelling are ideas, colour, resin, mixing cups and mixing sticks. Our Cold Enamel Mini Jewellery Kits are designed especially for use with jewellery sized projects. They contain adequate amounts of all of the necessary materials to start adding colour to to your jewellery project and include instructions, colours, clear resin, mixing sticks and mixing cups.
